Dharmashala is the popular hub of Indian and foreigner tourist. In the year 1960, Dharamshala become a temporary headquarters to the Noble Laureate His Holiness the”Dalai Lama”. Now, Dharamshala is internationally acclaimed as” The Little Lhasa in India”. Dharamshala has truly become “the land of the lamas”.

Dharamshala has everything for a perfect holiday. Covering a wide area in the form of a twin settlement, Lower Dharamshala (1380 m) is a busy commercial center, while Upper Dharamshala (1830m) with the suburbs of Mcleodganj and forsythganj, retains a British Flavor and colonial lifestyle.

There is also a beautiful cricket stadium in the city facing mighty Dhauladhar.

How to Reach:-

Air: The nearest airport at Gaggal is 14 km away after which it is accessible by road.
 
Rail:  Pathankot is the nearest broad gauge railway terminal to Dharamshala. From Pathankot there is a narrow gauge railway line up to kangra(94km) and from here Dharamshala is 17 km by road.

 Road: Direct and regular bus services from Delhi, Chandigarh Jammu, Shimla, Manali.



Climate:-

The temperature in summer is maximum32 °C and minimum is 15°C and in winter16 °C Maximum and minimum is 0°C and average rainfall in the city is 3000 mm.

Places to visit in Dharamshala:-


There are numerous sightseeing spots in the destination, which include McLeodganj, Bhagsunath Falls, Bhagsunath Temple, Dharamshala cricket Stadium, Triund and Kangra fort. These sightseeing locations are situated within or near Mcleodganj city and can be accessed through taxi via road.

Tourists can visits various places such as Kangra Art Museum, Dal lake, St. John Church, Dharamkot, kareri and Tsuglagkhang that are famous for their Buddhist Culture and Tibetan influence. Dharamshala is also home to various sites like Namgyal Monastery, Library of Tibetan works an Archives, Narghota and kunal Pathri.

These tourist places are located to kotwali Bazaar in Mcleodganj, it’s a popular market for shopping Tibetan Items. Naam Art Gallery, Namgyalma Stupa, Hanuman Ka Tibba and Chamunda Devi Temples are situated few kilometers away from Dharamshala City.

Chamba is situated on the banks of the Ravi River. In 920, Raja Sahil Varman was established the town after his favorite daughter name Champavati. The town has a large number of temples and palaces. Chamba has completed its 1000 years also in India. Here are two popular fairs, the "Minjar Mela" and the "Suhi Mata Mela". Chamba is also well noted for its arts and crafts. It is the headquarters of the Chamba district.

By Air: - Nearest Airport is Gaggal (Dharmashala) 180 km from Chamba and Connected to Chandigarh and Delhi.

By Rail: - Pathankot is the nearest Railway Station only 120 km from Chamba.

By Bus: - You can reach via Bus it is the most basic mode of travel available this place.

Main Attractions of Chamba:-

Bhuri Singh Museum

It was opened on 14th September 1908 and is name after Bhuri singh who ruled Chamba. The exhibits include costumes, painting, doorways, stone carvings etc.

Lakshmi Narayan Temple

It is the most famous temple and attraction place of tourist, there is a group of six stone Sahara temples arranged in a row north to south. Three temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva and another three is Lord Vishnu.

The Chaugan

It is located in the heart of the town and hub of town’s activity. It has a terraced grass garden and is measuring 800 meters long and 80 meters width. Each year Chaugan is the site for the “Minjar Mela”.

Champawati Temple

This temple is built by Raja Varman to memory of his daughter Champavati. There is a Stone Shikhara temple dedicated to Goddess Champavati.

Chamunda Devi Temple

The Chamunda Devi temple is dedicated to goddess Chamunda, the wrathful form of Durga. It was built by Raja Umed Singh and it was completed in 1762. It is the only wooden temple in Chamba and located in the hilltop and gives a clear view of the Chamba Valley.

Chamba is also famous for its valley for trekking as it has three well –defined snow ranges Laskar, Dhauladhar and PirPanjal.
